I'll be fully retired from the hospital on the 20th of August. They just announced to me on Friday that they will be eliminating my part time positiion and replacing it with a full time one. It was my pleasure to let them know that I am too old to work full time. <G>

I'm home from the hospital after the surprise double bypass. I think I am doing pretty good but the docs say I have to be real good, or face going back. I think I am officially on at least three weeks of not doing too much. It is sure good to be home and have a good shower, and my own bathroom! <G>

I had my first follow up since the bypass surgery and the doc says a

I had my first follow up since the bypass surgery and the doc says all is going according to plan. He is enrolling me in cardiac rehab now, and letting me stop two of the meds that I don't like. I don't like them because they keep my bp low and it is low enough normally. Those make me dizzy when I first stand up, so now that should go away. Good thing he didn't say anything about quitting the hard drugs<G>, just kidding.

We had a great time in Borrego Springs this weekend visiting with Sherm, Pat, Kelly, Steven, KT, and Jim. I made it home safely after enjoying a spirited ride around the Anza Borrego loop this morning. Thanks Kelly and Steven for the great hospitality and super food. We will miss you two here in the southland, but will be sure to visit when in the Seattle area. Really hope the new position satisfies the soul.

Susan, it poured here last night, but within ten minutes of the rain you can't tell that it ever happened. I was doing a job this morning for a neighbor and it started to rain. There is a little dent on the top of my utility bed that is about a 1/2" inch deep. I went to get some tools and it was full. A half hour later it was completely gone.

I took the Beemer out yesterday just to exercise her a bit and noticed that the brakes didn't feel as responsive. I saw that the ABS light didn't go out as it should have so I decided to service the ABS unit. BMW doesn't sell a service manual, only CD ones (which I hate). I do have one, but couldn't get it to load. I did a search on you tube and voila, all I needed was right there. It may have been in Czech, but the video told all. :) The old girl is back to performing well once again.

They are bluetooth compatible and I have no idea exactly what that means, but I did pair it with my phone. Here I am testing it with Sherm on the other end. :)

I also rarely talk politics as I've never seen anyone sway from the opinion that they came with. However, I am sitting here chuckling to myself wondering if anyone out there has a clue about my political leanings. :) So, if you think you do, what do you think they are. I just made it home from SEVROC. I ended up riding 8,842 miles. I only thought this would be a 7,000 mile ride, but I'm not complaining. I got to meet some great people, catch up with some old friends, fill in my 49 states traveled map, ride the dragon, then ride with the fastest guy in VROC on some really great NC roads (Thanks again Brandon), and I saw a lot of new country. The Goldwing ran great, but used two quarts of oil in that distance, and I broke a throttle cable. Thanks to all of you that made this such a memorable trip.

Took a short ride if 75 miles falls in that category. I wanted to see if any of the water I've been seeing in the hills is making it to the Gila river. It is! I think this shot is probably 90 river miles from where Garry and I rode to Horseshoe reservoir. A good size and still a good flow down here. It might even make a couple hundred more miles to Yuma. On my way back from the river I passed this farm so bought 5 dozen eggs.

Sherm and I are both home safely from a great trip that included two rallies and a couple of days in Branson. Thanks to everyone that worked so hard putting both of these rallies together. That includes all of the planning, those bringing desserts (even though I failed the resisting temptation test), and those that cooked meals while we were there! I did happen to lose a side cover that blew off from my Goldwing just north of my turnoff onto the 303 near my home. Who'd of thought?

I finally took a day off without actually leaving on a vacation. Fun little ride but it is still pretty warm here, 100* today! This old Trotting track has been here for fifty years and only used for two and a half seasons. It's almost history now. I also rode up to the top of South Mountain and took a couple pics of the entry area to the park, also known as los banos! :) I stopped at Ponchos for lunch and was taken to the back room. I never noticed the wall until I was almost ready to leave.

I was just going to post the nice ones, but I like them all. :) :) :) I also wanted to check out how the Castle Hot Springs Resort was coming along. I doubt I will ever stay there as I suspect it will be a 5 star destination that I won't be able to afford. I fully expect they will be putting in a helipad to shuttle people in and out from the airport.

Departure day for this years Death Valley ride was Friday the 16th. I only took possession of my new ride on the 14th and it was in a pouring rain. I rode it home, sat on it all day in my garage on the 15th trying to learn the new electronics. I left on the 16th having learned NOTHING! In spite of that, I had an awesome weekend, and even learned or was shown (thanks Angela) a few things about the electronic. All in all, the bike is awesome, except for the 112 mph limiter. Come on Honda, raise that limit to at least 125.........how in the world do you expect us to make a pass?

A while back while looking at an AZ highway map I noticed there was a road to near the top. As it turns out, the mountain is 10,720' tall and goes from desert cactus to Pine forest. It also went from 83 degrees to 57 degrees.

I put a 175 miles on her today and she is a keeper. However, she will definitely need a new seat. She averaged 44 mpg on the ride. Not bad for at least five visits to the triple digits two of which were 110 indicated. No doubt in my mind indicated is well over actual.

I have to give a Big Plug out to Shoei Helmets. While on this trip i broke my face shield mechanism. I googled Shoei repair centers and found it to be very near my sisters house. I went there with no appointment. Due to Covid, there is a sign with a phone number to make an appointment. As I was dialing the number A nice young man and a co-worker opened the door. I told them I was on a trip and they had me fill out my name, address, and phone number. They took my helmet and 5 minutes later returned and it was like new again! A big Thanks from me.

A rare pleasure here in AZ! Having just returned from a 5,800 mile ride I was able to let my bike sit in a soft rain for 15 minutes to soften the bugs. Usually I'm trying to rinse off the soap before it dries as I run for the hose.

I never thought I would go back from a car tire to a motorcycle tire, but when the price is too good to turn down, how can I not. It has been over three hundred thousand miles since I’ve run a motorcycle tire on my wings. I’m sure I’ll go back when I wear these out. BTW, the car tire I took off in the picture has over 8,000 miles on it and still has a lot more to go.

The group I ride with here in AZ took it's first ride of the season up Yarnell hill to the Ranch House for breakfast. Literally hundreds of bikes out there doing the exact same thing today. Why not, it's only going to hit a cool high of 98. That sure beats the last 110 days of 100 degrees plus.
